The Problem: That immediate feeling of being "bombarded." Most entryways and reception areas are an afterthought. We are thrust from the noise of the outside world directly into a small, functional space with no area to "pause and gather." This subconscious jolt creates a baseline of anxiety and stress before an appointment, a meeting, or even a wellness service has begun. Personally , I've had this experience and feeling SEVERAL times when entering an indoor space.
My Process & Solution: I am designing a "psychological buffer", an entryway sequence that manages this sensory transition.
The Goal: To transform a simple entrance into a deliberate "threshold of calm," ensuring visitors and employees feel centered, safe, and present from the moment they walk in the door.
