In a quiet corner of the South, our next project transforms a builder-grade interior into a rich, textured memoir, meticulously unboxing a lifetime of global travel. Drawing inspiration from the client’s years immersed in African landscapes and their curated collection of hand-carved woods, storied textiles, and organic treasures, this design unlocks the unique potential of the space with innovative, culturally infused solutions.

MEANING:
We've named this project Nokaro (Mokoro). After research into the client's favorite spaces from home and her new home, this merge of languages speaks volumes for the beauty to become.

Nokaro (Mokoro) is a linguistic bridge connecting the deep currents of the Okavango Delta to the tidal pulse of the St. Johns River. The name honors the Sotho-Tswana word Noka for "River" and the Spanish Oro for "Gold", a nod to Florida’s Spanish history [RIVER OF GOLD]. At the heart of the concept is the Mokoro, the traditional dugout canoe used to navigate the tangled "river roots" of Africa. The challenge is to conceptually dissolve the boundary between the sanctuary and the scenery. This seamless blend fulfills the client’s deepest goal: to live in a space where the indoors and outdoors are one, allowing her to feel the pulse of Africa while standing on Florida soil.
